West Ham climbed up to seventh in the English Premier League table thanks to their 1-0 defeat of Manchester City on Sunday. The teenager Jack Collison of Watford scored the match's lone goal in the 71st minute off a Savio cross and a Given parry. The game saw Valon Behrami stretchered off with a twisted knee and also the return of Craig Belamy to Upton Park in the second half where the boobirds were in full attendance after his transfer in January. The win, moving the Hammers into 7th place in the most recent standings, puts West Ham within reach of a spot in the newly reformatted UEFA Cup, known as the UEFA Europa League starting next year. With Manchester United having put down relegation contenders Tottenham in the final of the Carling Cup 4-1 on penalties, the top six spots are guaranteed places in Europe, with the seventh spot being alotted should a team in the top 6 win the FA Cup in May. United is busy in the news today with Ronaldo reportedly being offered £200,000/week to stay at Old Tratford in place of a move to Real Madrid which equates to about $21 million/year for the Portugese international. Rio Ferdinand also says that he belives Old Trattford will one day see the arrival of the Special One, Jose Mourinho.
